Stimson owns and operates six mills in Oregon and Idaho. These mills, adjacent to Stimson land holdings, are dedicated to enhancing the value of harvested logs from our timberlands. Every Stimson product carries the SFI® certification, ensuring our commitment to sustainability and quality.

Located 30 miles west of Portland, our Forest Grove mill, established in 1933, stands at the heart of Stimson’s original Oregon timber holdings. Today, it accommodates a wet-process hardboard mill and state-of-the-art stud mill.
Utilizing Douglas Fir and Hemlock logs sourced mainly from adjacent Stimson timberlands, the stud mill produces 6 to 10-foot studs for retail markets. Meanwhile, the hardboard plant utilizes sawdust and wood chips from the stud mill to create a high-density pane, widely used in retail and industrial applications.

Distribution
The Forest Grove mill is served by Portland & Western Railroad, which connects to Union Pacific Railroad. The mill offers loading for centerbeam cars, maxi trucks, flatbed trucks, and vans.

Nestled amidst Stimson timberlands and industrial and privately owned timberlands, our St. Maries mill processes a diverse array of log diameters and species including Douglas Fir, Western Larch, White Fir and Lodgepole Pine, producing top-quality studs for retail markets.

Located on Oregon’s northern coast, the Tillamook mill is surrounded by a large block of state-managed industrial timberlands. The mill processes mostly Hemlock and a lesser amount of Douglas Fir and Sitka Spruce to produce 2"x4" and 2"x6" premium studs for retail markets.
