Forest Grove Complex

Forest Grove, Oregon

The Forest Grove complex is at the site of the original Scoggins Valley mill, located approximately thirty miles west of Portland, Oregon. It was built in 1933 at the foot of the original Stimson timber holdings in Oregon during an era when logs were transported from the woods directly to the mill via company railroad. Today, the mill houses a wet process Hardboard mill and a modern stud mill.

The studmill produces 6’ to 10’ premium studs for retail markets out of Douglas-fir and Hemlock logs. Most of the logs are supplied from Stimson Lumber Company timberlands located adjacent to the mill.

The Hardboard plant utilizes Douglas-fir sawdust and wood chips from the studmill and presses it into a high density panel used for many retail and industrial applications.

The Forest Grove mill is served by the Portland & Western Railroad connecting to the Union Pacific Railroad or the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad and offers center beam car loadings across the U.S. We also offer loading for maxi trucks, flatbed trucks, and van loadings to fit your customers ever changing needs.
