Stimson Lumber Company
owns and manages approximately 500,000 acres of forest land in the Western United States. Our forest land is one of the company’s most valuable assets. A steady flow of raw materials from our own company lands allows us the flexibility to run our manufacturing facilities in the most efficient manner possible.
But forests are about more than just a supply of raw materials. At Stimson Lumber Company, forestry is about more than
producing logs for the mills. Among many different things to many different people, forests are also home to a tremendous variety of wildlife, producers of clean drinking
water, and places for recreation.
To provide these additional benefits through time, along with a steady supply of raw materials, is the essence
of true sustainable forestry. In order to help us implement sustainable forestry, Stimson Lumber Company developed its own set of Forestry Principles to guide our day to day forest management operations.
Stimson Lumber Company is a participant and supports the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®). SFI is an independent
organization comprised of conservation, forest products and academic groups dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. The SFI label is a sign you are buying wood
and paper products from well-managed forests, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit. For more information please go to www.sfiprogram.org.
Finally, each state in which we operate has its own unique environment, its own
educational institutions, and its own associations to help promote sound forest practices.
